Wolverine Origins #14

Cyber interrupts the tussle between Wolverine and his long lost son Daken. With Wolverine KOed its now Cyber Vs Daken. This is quite a straighforward issue with lots of fight action, maiming and clawing. Daken is good and fast but Cyber has the advantage of adamantium laced body and nothing can touch him. Even the few acrobatic stunts Daken inflict on Cyber produce nothing. It was a matter of time before Cyber got Daken by the throat only for Wolverine to thwart Cyber's attempt. While Cyber and Wolverine is tussling, Daken makes an escape leaving the scene.
Wolverine then took a heavy beating by Cyber. Wolverine is saved by the bell when Cyber gets a heart attack. Seems Cyber does not know the new host body he possesed have a heart weakness.
Wolverine interrogates Cyber and theres the flashback of the origins of Cyber from the early 1900's where he was a homicidal officer convicted of mass murder.
But he was broke out from going to prison by non other than Sabretooth to be recruited by unknown agency. Weapon X maybe.
As Cyber slowly loosing it from the heart ailment, Wolverine decided to help Cyber to locate a tinkerer to repair that heart of Cyber.

Notable events: The origins of Cyber before he was the way he is.
Best action: Wolverine getting both his hands broken by Cyber.
Twist: Wolverine helps out Cyber? The man he most feared.

Amazing Spiderman #540

After the events in the previous issue where Aunt May got shot, Peter has revenge on his mind. So it is evident that in this issue Spiderman goes looking for the people responsible for the shooting. Spidey goes tracking the criminals to get the answers and Spidey does take some drastic steps to get the information he needs. It is not long before Spiderman ends up with the name of the shooter.

Spidey managed to get the location of his home but not before the shooter has left for the train station.
Spiderman uses his spider sense at the train station to get the shooter as he doesn't know how the guy looks like. Spiderman then give the shooter a hard lesson as spidey tries to extract the information of the man that ordered the hit. But the shooter got hit himself by unidentified assailants before revealing the identity. But not before Spidey planted a spider tracer on the assailant. In the end Spidey manage to track down the assailant as he was answering the phone. As Spidey listens to the voice, it is obvious already that the man that ordered the hit is the Kingpin.

Notable events: Spidey going crazy in investigating the identity of the shooter
Best action: Spiderman dangling a guns smuggler to get information.
Twist: Spiderman learns that Kingpin is after his head.
Cliffhanger: Spiderman wants to kill Kingpin in next issue

Incredible Hulk #106

World War Hulk and this issue is suppose to be the starting point. But as nice as the cover can be, the hulk won't be making any real appearance here apart from when he appears during storytelling by other characters. So this issue is mostly centered on Jen Walters the She Hulk and this genius Amadeus who is all out in trying to help Hulk. Apparently Jen has learnt what Ironman and the rest of the Illuminati done to Hulk by banishing him from earth. After giving Ironman a beating, Ironman puts some nano bots into Jen that makes her unable to turn into She Hulk and dropped her off in the middle of nowhere.

Then Amadeus appear and offered her a lift. The rest of it will involve how Amadeus persuades Jen to join in his cause to aid the Hulk. Meanwhile in the background is Reed Richards monitoring everything they are doing and working with Doc Samson to get to the genius. Soon Doc Samson manage to track them and after felling both of them with a thunder clap, Jen emerges as She Hulk and gives doc a whack after learning what Doc Samson has been collaborating with Reed and Ironman. It ended up She Hulk puching Doc out of the place. Amadeus gives She Hulk the slip and in the final pages meeting up with non other than Hercules and Angel both have a history with the Hulk.

Notable events: Good to know how Amadeus meet with Hulk previously. Also a good recap of how Hulk helped Jen to hospital before she was She Hulk.
Best action: She Hulk pummeling Doc Samson way far away.
Twist: Doc Samson is with Reed's side.
Cliffhanger: Is Hercules and Angel joining with Amadeus agenda.

DMZ #18

A new storyline starts in this issue titled friendly fire. This time Matt is out of the DMZ to cover the Day 204 Massacre in the ongoing war. Most of the storyline involves the journey of a Private Stevens who is being interviewved by Matt. As it is, Stevens was plunged into the war nobody wants to fight. At the beginning the story kind of slow but gradually builds up until the day of the massacre event.

Honestly i didn't expect it to happen so sudden. As private Stevens explains it, on the day of the event, it was raining heavily and a bunch of him and other guys was seeking shelter. Then out of nowhere hundreds of people in raincoat came marching by them ignoring them as if they weren't there. It is not clear now whether they were the opposing force or not. As the group march further up, Stevens started imagining things like blood on the streming through the ground. Stevens got up and ran towards the group and stopped one of them and as he reached for something in his jacket pocket, Stevens freaked and shouted he has a weapon and starts firing. So that is how the basic of how the massacre happened and the group that was killed was supposed to be anti war protestors. And the soldiers misfiring on the civillians are to stand trial which should be in the next issue.

Best action: The faces on the soldiers as they were overwhelmed by the number of the unknown group not knowing which side they are on.
Best twist: The way the massacre actually happened.

Astonishing X-Men #21

The X-Men crash landed in the alien planet Breakworld. In this issue the X-Men team got separated but soon after Wolverine and the mutant girl Armor rejoins the others namely Cyclops, Ms Frost, Beast and the SWORD director Agent Brand. There's a great scene where Wolverine rides a nice flying machine here. Soon after they split up again to search for the alien device that is going to destroy earth and also to search for Colossus and Kitty.

Meanwhile Colossus and Kitty both have problems of their own when the aliens security forces discovered them and they have to fight their way out. Until an alien native rescued them and bring them to a fortress in the mountains. The leader of the alien world Kruun is plotting how to destroy the X-Men and he has a new robot like assasin.
This alien robot assasin will later appear in the final pages as it ambushed the space ship Cyclops and Emma was travelling on. And the alien robot has a definitive hidden talent for retracting its body parts. But the real question is whether Cyclops is dead or just injured after crashing the ship again.

Notable scene: The SWORD agents have a mole inside the Breakworld empire.
Best action scene: The alien robot portruding arms and body in halting the ship Cyclops and Frost were in.
Best twist: Having compassion is a sin in Breakworld!
Cliffhanger: Frost asks the alien robot to kill her also. Not that easy.

Punisher #47

Not much action happening in this issue. Hard to believe Punisher getting injured and have to rest after being rescued by a woman. So the mysterious woman rescuer reveals everything in this issue, in how she arrived in this situation and helping Punisher. The woman is one of the wives of some big mobster. Mobster guy is total crazy and abuses the wife straight after wedding. The wife becomes vengeful to the other wives of the mobsters as they all knew the craziness of her husband before. That includes the woman's own sister planning her marriage into the insane mob family.

Then one fine day the crazy mob husband is killed by the Punisher in his usual gang buster action. Thats the only action Punisher ever gets in this issue. Soon after the woman found herself with terminal disease and wanting to go to FBI to unfold the mob's activities. So she is marked for death as her sister and the other mob's wife planned for her death. But she survived after a freak accident prevented the hired killers to do their job properly. So now her life's goal is to seek revenge on those who had wronged her previously, a kindred spirit with Punisher.

Notable events: Explaination on how the woman become a super crazy killer
Best action: Unfortunately Punisher only holds a gun once here. Not much choice there.
Best twist: Punisher actually listens to whole story of this woman and feels understanding? huh
Nope no cliffhanger here.

Ghost Rider: Trail of Tears #4

The trail of doom continues for the few men being hunted by Ghost Rider. The men are getting anxious as they have just witnessed a harrowing death of one of their own in the hands of this hooded rider. As they started to get confuse and angry, the rider creeps up from behind them and thus starting another killing spree. One man got caught by chain got tear apart. Lots of dimemberment here.

Ghost rider releases flames from his eyes again and surrounded the two last man standing, Reagen and Nightshade in a circle of fire. A shocker here as Reagen took an outrageous action in order to make a deal with the other side. Not long after the dust settles, red fog are heading to a town not far away. Along with it a few shadowy figures with definite evil intention. Looks like the bad guys made the deal and came back.

Best action: Hooded ghost rider flinging a victim into the air with chain.
Best twist: Reagen tears out a dead friend's heart and eats it in order to make the deal with the other side... then kills himself.
Cliffhanger: The return of the bad guys from the grave with a vengeance.
