Captain America 5

Captain America continues to tangle with Bravo in the alternate world trading punches. In the real world Sharon Carter is confronting the Queen of hydra in a hostage situation with Jimmy Jupiter. In a bid to stop the Queen and foil her plans Sharon tried to save Jimmy but the Queen reacted by shooting Jimmy. The Queen slips away in the ensuing chaos. With his last dying breath Jimmy transferred Captain America and and Bravo back into the real world. Both still slugging it out but Bravo were soon overpowered by Falcon and Sharon.

The events put some doubts in Cap's mind about how he had failed America helped by Bravo's continuing insult of Cap's failure to right what is wrong with America today. Meanwhile the Queen have other plans for hydra and with Baron still in the frame. What the Baron is up to exactly here is not known but surely he will resurface few issues down the road. Not the end of the new villain the Queen. Overall plenty of action as always and two pencilers are at work here. So it is quite obvious to see the penciling differs from one page to the other especially in the final few pages. A solid ending to a story arc.

Captain America 4

After being attacked by a giant replica robot of himself in the last issue, Captain America vanished into Jimmny Jupiter alternate world. Everything seems fine at first as bravo toys with his mind. Till bravo puts Cap through the horror of having to face an alternate america turn to fascism. Bravo starts to kick Cap's ass in the alternate world and Cap is helpless. Bravo explains that his squad gets trap in the alternate world together with the other hydra agents in the mission years ago after Jimmy fell into a coma. Both Bravo and the hydra work together in order to survive in the alternate reality.

Meanwhile Nick Fury, Sharon Carter and Falcon tracks down the hydra agents from the alternate reality that has been behind all this. The hydra led by the queen is trying to merge the real world and the alternate world by using old Jimmy Jupiter using the world wide web. It sounds crazy but nonetheless hydra are convinced it will work. The trio of Falcon, Fury and Carter attacks just as hydra were implementing their evil scheme. Just as Carter were about to rescue old Jimmy, the queen held Jimmy hostage and threatens to kill the old man which would trap Cap in the alternate world.

Captain America #3

The introduction has Bravo and the new hydra queen scheming on their evil plan. The origin of the hydra queen is still unknown yet but the main crux of the story is Captain America fending off a giant of a Captain America attack. The giant is called Ameridroid, an android built by a mad nazi scientist who has his own consciousness implanted in the android. Sharon Carter also has to face off against Baron Zemo and this new look zemo has a lot of tricks including electrocution. Captain America finally brings down the droid by smashing its face with the shield and Baron Zemo as if on cue makes a hasty exit and pushed Sharon off the building. But Cap was fast on his feet as always and saved her.

The ameridroid is brought to a research lab as Captain America, Sharon and Nick Fury deliberated on the droid's origin.  But nearby elsewhere Bravo and the hydra queen is reactivating the droid. A trap is set and the droid lunged at Captain America and both breaks through the building's barrier and fall down into a portal. The evil plan succeeded and surely enough the portal leads to the dream dimension as Bravo had planned all along. In the dimension, the droid appears as the mad scientist in flesh as everything is possible in a dream. But the scientist was killed off by Bravo making a short lived appearance. Captain America move to disable Bravo was futile as Bravo has total control of the dream dimension. Cap is handicapped in lots of ways fighting in the enemy's den. Mostly the book packs lots of action and it will be interesting to see how Cap will deal with old foes in an unknown landscape of a dream dimension.

Captain America #2

More are revealed about the pass after an old agent codenamed Bravo resurfaces after disappeared during world war 2. It all happened in a mission to storm Baron Zemo's fortress. The secret weapon that Captain America and his team has is Jimmy Jupiter that can enter the sleep dimension and weaves it to his liking. Jimmy uses his ability to transport the team in and out to attack Zemo's stronghold. In a mission gone awry, Jimmy got knocked out cold by an enemy spy in the team, and goes on a long coma. That is how Bravo and few other enemy spies gets trapped in the dreamworld as Jimmy is unable to function anymore.

Presently Cap and his new team attacks a base that is believed to be occupied by Bravo. Cap disabled some Hydra agents. But not before an unknown Hydra agent which was addressed as the Queen escaped through a teleportation device. Looks like Bravo has many new accomplices since his time in the dreamworld.

It looks like Bravo has learnt some new abilities in the dream world by entering the dream of Sharon Carter and seducing her in the dream. She wakes up from the dream only to witness that Captain America gets grabbed by a giant hand belonging to a giant Captain America. It could be they are still inside a dream or the giant Captain America is a being extracted from the dreamworld.

Captain America #01

The relaunch of Captain America title has Steve Rogers back as Cap. The new storyline have nothing to do with the ongoing fear itself event happening in the marvel universe. Written by Ed Brubaker the story more focused into captain america's tale of adventures from the past. In the first few pages, cap reminisces about the world war 2 and how he stopped the nazis. Then fast forward to present he attends the funeral of Peggy, an old colleague from world war 2.

But soon enough the past catches with Steve as same familiar face from during the war shows up and tried to assassinate Nick Fury and Dugan at the funeral. Steve goes after the assassinator but ends up getting blown by the villain. Steve ends up alright and it was later revealed through flashback the assassinator is named Bravo an old acquaintance during the war as he and Steve worked together with Nick Fury and Peggy on a mission in europe. It seems that the mission main person is a boy named Jimmy. His abilities is not revealed here. Back to present Steve sensed that Jimmy is awakened from a coma. As Cap with Nick Fury, Sharon Carter and Dugan went to retrieve Jimmy they were ambushed by hydra and they managed to snatch Jimmy.  These hydra is of course dispatched by this Bravo and is in cahoots with Baron Zemo, another very old villain resurfaces.
There are many unanswered question from this issue alone. More light should be shed in the next issue.

Captain America #619

Well this is the second last issue of Captain America before being relaunched to coincide with the release of the big budget Captain America movie this summer. Which is just 2 weeks away. This is the final chapter of the story arc Gulag. Bucky Barnes still the Captain America is still trapped and imprisoned at the Russian Siberian Gulag because of his previous crimes as the Winter Soldier. The fist party of the story revolves around Barnes attempt at escaping the gulag and the Black Widow going to the gulag to free Barnes.

Barnes is being tortured and thrown into fights ala gladiator style. But luck is on his side as he faced the final biggest baddest opponent with the name of Unicorn. Apparently the guy has extra eye on the middle of his head that shoots lasers and Barnes seized on that opportunity to use the lasers to blow up the gulag to engineer his escape. Some shots hit gas pipes and the whole thing blows up giving Barnes the cover to escape.
With the help of Black Widow Barnes managed to escape the gulag in the end.

Meanwhile on the other side of the globe the original Captain America stopped some Soviet sleeper agents and dismantled them. Then the prelude to the handling of the Cpatain America mantle from Barnes to Rogers the president is in agrement that Barnes can't continue to be Captain America anymore because of the many scandals of him breaking out of the gulag and his crimes as winter soldier. So technically this is the issue that finally confirms that Rogers will get to be Captain America again. So a new relaunched issue of Captain America is on the cards.
Notable events: Rogers gains back the Captain America title.
