Amazing Spiderman 672

The final issue of spider island story arc has the typical final fight with the big boss. Almost all the superheroes in the marvel universe is involved in the fight from the avengers to the x-men to the fantastic four. Firstly Captain America and venom faced off against the queen in her human form. That doesn't turns out good as the queen transformed into a giant mutated spider who Cap described as an omega threat level. The queen moved into the city and wreck havoc all around and all the superheroes is having a hard time trying to contain it.


Meanwhile Parker and his clone Kaine does a double team up against the queen. The first time face off does not do anything to stop the queen. Parker's quick thinking led him to use a weapon of Doc Ock and the weapon is successful in turning all the people of new york mutated into spiders back into their own selves. The spider queen powers diminished significantly after that and that gives the opening Kaine needed to deliver the fatal blow to the queen. The queen was finally defeated but not before leaving a trail of destruction in the city. Good outcome is that Parker gets the chance to be close with Mary Jane again in the final pages.

Amazing Spiderman 670

The spider infestation continues as all human beings in New York city starts turning into real life human sized spiders with furs and fangs. Even the avenger Hawkeye is not spared as he turned into one.  Spiderman has problems of his own when his girlfriend also turned into a spider and blend in with the rest leaving Spiderman unable to locate which one is her. There is a background introduction to the villain behind all this, Adriana Soria  aka the Queen a super powered being who have fought with Spiderman and Captain America.

The anti-venom is the one with the cure as his name suggests. Venom now a government agent confronts the anti-venom to bring him in to provide the cure. The bad blood between the symbiotes nearly makes venom kills anti-venom. Lots of characters involved here with the X-men Emma Frost, Strom and Gambit having to deal with the onslaught.
Meanwhile the mayor Jonah Jameson is freaking out as scrambles to find a cure before he himself turned to a spider. The mayor is desperate enough to get the help of the spider slayer who have in the past killed Jameson's wife. The spider slayer starts taunting about the desperation of Jameson but that is the biggest mistake he will make as the Queen starts controlling Jameson's mind turning him into a crazed spider which eventually bites the spider slayer dead as Spiderman watch helplessly.

Amazing Spiderman 699

Parker and Carlie invetigating the base of the villain the Jackal is confronted by three minor villains. The villains Chance, Scorcher and White Rabbit ambushed Parker and Carlie and Carlie takes a beating. But Parker make a stop to all the nonsense by using the karate moves taught by Shang Chi to disable the villains. Meanwhile the Jackal and Tarantula is watching all this quietly from another location and seems to be taking orders from some one.

The avengers have their hands full trying to contain the infected people on the island from leaving and others from entering. Mr Fantastic and the team at Horizon labs are successful in finding the cause of the infection which originates from bedbugs and before long the infected will be transformed into the spider species permanently. The Mayor Jameson got a shock of his life when finding out that he has already been infected. Elsewhere the anti venom is busy trying to cure the ones infected using his venom but was overwhelmed by too many of the infected ones.

The main penultimate of the story happens later on when both Spiderman and Carlie responds to a bank robbery in progress. The villain turns out to be an old foe of Spiderman, Shocker who appears to be infected also with extra limbs. Shocker starts blasting and Spiderman evaded easily. The fight stops when Spiderman learnt that the Shocker does not deliberately get infected to attain more power, but needed the money to cure himself from the infection that is already transforming him into a human spider. At the same Carlie is also transforming into human spider as Spiderman watches helplessly. There a lot happening involving multiple characters and its interesting to find where the other side characters ends up at the end of the spider island event.

Amazing Spiderman 668

Spiderman joins up with the Avengers to stop all the fake Spidermans in downtown New York but got mistaken for one of the fakes himself. The intervention of Shang Chi helps clarify the matter and as a result Spiderman was told to take a break so as not confusing him with other fake Spiderman. Seeing that Carlie is doing all she can to help out the Avnegers, Parker gets an idea an announced that he too has spider powers just like anyone else in the city. Also did a good job at calling out all the citizens with new found powers to help out the Avengers. Sure enough the citizens with new found spider powers showed up with Parker to help thrash the fake Spidermans.


The city mayor Jonah Jameson issues a lockdown on the city to calm the situation. A cure is in the making to return the people with spider powers to their normal selves. Meanwhile Carlie got a new lead on the perpetrator of the fake spidermans who is the Jackal. The Jackal has not done yet and plan to unleash a more deadly strain of Spidermans next. Carlie and Parker pursue the lead to an old abandoned warehouse where the Jackal is waiting to spring a trap.

Amazing Spiderman 667

The start of Spider island event is here. Things are starting to get weird when almost anyone gets spiderman's capabilities. And that includes Spiderman's girlfriend Carlie who is also a cop. Parker is now at wits end whether to let her girlfriend to go patrol around with her new powers. At the other end, a gathering of criminals is underway and the main villain uniting them all is the Jackal. The Jackal is planning something on a massive scale by 'infecting' all the criminal gangs with spider powers and also equipping them with spider gears.

It doesn't take long when the bunch of fake spidermans started to wreck havoc in downtown Manhattan, terrorizing and looting. Even Mary Jane gets caught in the middle of it. But help arrives when the avengers and FF arrives to stop the fake Spidermans. Meanwhile Parker and his girlfriend gets caught in the middle of a jam caused by the looting and Carlie swings off on hearing the disturbance on the radio. Spiderman arrives in the middle of a big fight. Spiderman got mistaken for one of the fakes and gets whacked by the Thing and IronFist. A pile of Spidermans are left on the street in the aftermath.

Fear Itself Spiderman 1

The story here describes the fear that is gripping New York city residents a few hours after 'fear itself' begins. Here spidey narrates through all the crazy thing that is happening to the citizens. People are beginning to fear about everything that is needed to be feared about. In the first few panes spiderman have to save an Iranian taxi cab driver from a mob hell bent on lynching the cab driver. Mobs are everywhere and the city is in chaos.

Even Spiderman isn't spared as his constantly trying to contact aunt May by phone ended in futile. Spidey begins to start thinking all the bad things that could have happened to her. Meanwhile Spiderman has to do a lot of saving and rescuing in the city including stopping a van fully loaded with explosives from ramming into the police station and exploding. Only for the police to misinterpret what spidey has done and instead blamed him on the attack. Spiderman have to escape with the cops shooting at him.

In the final action, Spiderman managed to save a guy from jumping down a building only to be undone by his running out off web fluids and causing both to fall midway from the building. Spidey injured and barely able to stand then gets surrounded and attacked by rats as the villain behind it, the vermin is revealed in the final pane

Amazing Spiderman #540

After the events in the previous issue where Aunt May got shot, Peter has revenge on his mind. So it is evident that in this issue Spiderman goes looking for the people responsible for the shooting. Spidey goes tracking the criminals to get the answers and Spidey does take some drastic steps to get the information he needs. It is not long before Spiderman ends up with the name of the shooter.

Spidey managed to get the location of his home but not before the shooter has left for the train station.
Spiderman uses his spider sense at the train station to get the shooter as he doesn't know how the guy looks like. Spiderman then give the shooter a hard lesson as spidey tries to extract the information of the man that ordered the hit. But the shooter got hit himself by unidentified assailants before revealing the identity. But not before Spidey planted a spider tracer on the assailant. In the end Spidey manage to track down the assailant as he was answering the phone. As Spidey listens to the voice, it is obvious already that the man that ordered the hit is the Kingpin.
