Fallen Son: Wolverine #1

Depicts what Wolverine actions are after the death of Captain America. Here Wolverine is still in denial whether Cap have really died. So he embarks on a mission to proof beyond doubt that Cap is really dead, by checking out Cap's dead body.

So Wolverine gets going by trying to recruit Winter Soldier first to join him in infiltrating SHIELD's base where Cap's body was. Then moved on to getting Daredevil to his cause. Gets to see both Wolverine and Daredevil in a little action here. Well that's the most action one can get out of this book.

With the help of Doc Strange, both of them are able to enter the SHIELD helicarrier undetected. But not before confronting the one that shot Cap. Wolverine gets to interrogate Crossbones and tried as hard to find a reason to kill him. But backed out at the end as usual.

When Doc Strange spells finally wears of, Wolverine managed to chit chat a bit with Iron Man. But sadly no fight scene here as Iron Man let him go at the end. Not much of action but plenty of talking in this issue.

Punisher #46

The main attraction in this issue is seeing Punisher get shot ... by a woman. Hard to imagine but this is what exactly is so good about Ennis. The story is unique and can't cease to astonish you. This issue is at the middle of the story arc where a bunch of widows, mostly wives and spouses of mob bosses that got killed by punisher wanting to exact revenge.

So in this issue, we see the punisher getting lured into a trap set up by the widows. But after falling into the trap, punisher gets rescued by an unknown woman also. Apparently both the punisher and the woman has the enemy that is the mobs.

Meanwhile the cops are smelling something not quite right at the scene of the crime afther the backgrounds of the widows are revealed. Now the widows not only let the punisher gets away which is a problem, the cops are also beginning connecting the dots and not forgetting the woman who saved punisher which also has a stone to grind with them. More trouble next issue.

Comic spot: Ms Marvel #13

Apart from being tie in for the Initiative event after Civil War, we can feast ourselves on the nice cover art by Greg Horn. Really drew nice covers. Mostly a lot of conversation in this issue about getting Ms Marvel to head the new Avengers. Of course she rejected for now.

But worth noticing is Iron Man gets a wallop from Marvel coz of some misunderstanding. And after that more talking with all the publicity surrounding her and with the manager.

Not much action in this issue until the end of the issue where an old friend returns. A rematch is on the cards on the next issue

Comic Spot: Ghost Rider: Trail of Tears #3

Everything Garth Ennis wrote is good as gold. In Trail of Tears we are brought to the period right after the old american civil war, not to be confused with the just concluded Marvel civil war. Here instead of a ghost rider on motorbike, we have one riding a horse, a black horse at that.
And the stead is magnificently drawn. Surely reminds one of the nazgul from Lotr. Even the ghost rider is black hooded. The only difference is he use chains same as the present.

This is a limited series and this issue is the mid part as there are going to be 5 issues only. Here most of the story focuses the ghost rider having a time of his life hunting down the murderers that apparently murdered a whole family back in the previous issue. But the catchy stuff here is not in the storyline surely. The artwork is carefully crafted also seem to use something like computer graphics. After all its Clayton Crain.

The scene where ghost rider shoots flame from its eyes is something to behold. Surely nobody can survive the wrath of the ghost rider. The identity of the rider is still to be revealed but those that have read the previous 2 issues will have a rough idea who it is.

Comic Spot: Daredevil #95

Daredevil returns to Hells Kitchen after a long absense with all the jail adventure, Europe trip and civil war event taking much of time from his own home turf. His return only to find that a lot of things has changed. And crime has a few neat tricks awaiting our night watcher. Anyway Matt handles it comfortably but the outcome of things is a cause for concern as thugs are willingly killing themselves than being arrested. hmm some mind control going on here maybe?

Anyway there are a few neat narration here as we have the usual story book storytelling method here as depicted on the right. And it runs for three pages. Something different there.

Matt will also take up a new case here as an attorney, not the alter ego. A villain of Daredevil on Rykers is apparently being accused of murdering some prison mates. But is pleading innocence. Matt's also didin't sense any doubt when talking with the accused. But things are not appear what it seems towards the end of the issue as the dude accused of the murder flipped off only for him to not remembering any of it later.
Another mind control thingy going on?

Comic spot: Wolverine #52

Continuing this story arc by Jeph Loeb, examining the realtionship between Wolverine and his arch nemesis Sabretooth. This is Part 3 of the story arc and both Wolverine and Sabretooth landed in Wakanda the homeland of Black Panther. Storm also makes an appearance here. As to how they landed in Africa then have to search for the previous issue as both of them hop into the x-men jet and crash landed while still walooping each other.
And Wolverine is still having those strange prehistoric dreams here. This time involving prehistoric elephants. Nice representation of elephants art here. Unlike anything I have seen before. Also both Wolverine and Sabretooth continued their spat here with Black Panther also joining in the fracass.

This issue also depicts the first time where Wolverine and Sabretooth confronts each other, not in the old west but in the east instead. That is in Japan. Wolverine are forced into stopping Sabretooth's mad rampage and we get to see Wolvie brandishing a samurai sword. Nice. Overall and engaging issue but where exactly the story leads to remains to be seen, especially connecting those dots with those prehistoric bones and the dreams.
