Wolverine and the x-men 2

All is not well at school as Wolverine and the x-men are being attacked left and right. The hands behind them are the new underaged hellfire club. First there's is an earthquake causing part of the school to collapse. Then the people from the education department turned into wendigo and sauron. Whats next is more bizarre as frankenstein soldiers appears by the busload to terrorize the school. Wolverine as his usual self starts to slice and dice with the help of other x-men, iceman, husk and Kitty.


Just as the zombie soldiers are beginning to overwhelm the x-men, iceman saves the day by conjuring multiple of his own iceman self and turned the tide against the invaders. So iceman is hero of the day which is rare and he discovered a new found ability. Even gets to romancing Kitty in the middle of it. The chaos is not over yet as the hellfire club unleash the thing that caused the massive earthquake and it is a thing called krakoa. It is big, angry and have a long history with the x-men. Another cliffhanger which still didn't end where the book started, more killing and maiming in the next book.

Wolverine 17

There are dragons and gorillas and triads in this new storyline. Wolverine's life keeps getting more and more intriguing. After recent events Wolverine decides to take the next step to open a new school for mutants. But first he needs to make a stop over at Chinatown where he is also known as the black dragon the underworld kingpin. Unknown to him trouble is brewing in Chinatown where a few gang clashes have happened. Wolverine's stop over at Melita's place doesn't last long as he have to settle the gang fights and keep the streets safe, part of the job of black dragon.

After meeting Master Po who informs him of who is responsible, Wolverine starts going after the gang who has been killing people. It doesn't take long before Wolverine stumbles on a drug dealing organization. Then in comes an ape like super human called Gorilla man who has been all along tracking the drug dealers. Egos and misunderstanding starts to set in and before long both are engaged in a fight. Master Po discovery of a hidden passageway stops them in their fight and investigation leads to an ancient tunnel to China where drugs are smuggled. Kind of hard to digest but not before the appearance of dragons hauling crates of drugs baffles all of them. Their presence are discovered and they are surrounded by the gangs and dragons with no way out. Another day in the life of Wolvie.

Wolverine and the x-men 1

Wolverine start another chapter in his colorful life by being the new headmaster of the mutant school. The school is name after Jean Grey with Kitty Pryde as the headmistress. The whole concept of the school is over the edge with the Beast handling all the futuristic design and buildings. The main story centers on the visit by two inspector of the education department to the school to check on things and for approval.

Things are not going well as the two inspector witnessed a lot of unusual situation and Wolverine and Kitty try their best to appease them. There is also a new rule at the school where aliens can also be admitted. The story drags along for quite a while till almost the last pages till Kade Kilgore, the mastermind behind the hellfire club that orchestrated the sentinel to attack Utopia shows up at the school and babbled about all the bad deeds that he had done to Wolverine apparently to provoke him. Wolverine wouldn't have any of it and leaves but not before Kade swears on destroying the school. Sure enough he is true to his word when the ground beneath the school starts to rumble and from there emerge at giant like rock creature. Surely the school wouldn't survive the destruction.

Wolverine 16

Wolverine banished himself to the cold mountains after the previous events and lives among-st wolves. He hunt and run along with the wolves until one day a bunch of hunters traps and capture most of his packs. Wolverine in no form to fight gets shot a few tranquilizer darts but that doesn't put him down till a shot to the head from one of the hunters. Wolverine after waking up who is now pissed tracks down the hunters to their base. It looks like the hunters are also involved in illegal wolf fights. Just that the twist here they use children to fight with wolves. Wolverine kills all of them and rescued the children and reuniting them with their family.

But it is also a corny issue that main focus is to bring back Wolverine back from the cold. At the end his girlfriend Melita tracks him down. Along with her are the avengers and the x-men who are there to support him and bring him back. With all the events that is going on, all the superheroes still have the time to do a gathering is not very believable. A lot of good things and some bad things are said by the super heroes on their opinions on Wolverine. The main gist of the story is a solitary life is not for Wolverine but a superhero's instead.

Wolverine 15

Wolverine is grappling with his guilt of unknowingly killing his children after being set up by the red right hand in the previous story arc. Wolverine resorts to climbing up a cliff and throwing himself down over and over again to punish himself. A very inhumane way of resolving one's guilt only Wolverine can manage. Up till a few days ago Wolverine has been going around and locating the relatives of the ones he killed in order to bury them.

He gets himself drunk by the way and in his drunken daze, his old foes of Daken, brother and father returns to torment him in his dream. After getting a walloping in his dream daze a few gangster even robbed and slit his throat which is a new low for Wolverine. There and then Wolverine decided that he is not coming back for good and that it is the end of the superhero Wolverine. Will Wolverine starts to wander as a hermit once again after quitting being a superhero. Most likely.

The penciling here reminds of the newspaper comic strips of yesteryear. The artist Goran Sudzuka previously illustrated some issues of Y: The last man has translated the retro style here brilliantly. A good enough standalone issue after the previous incident aftermath.

Wolverine 14

The whole plot of the Wolverine's revenge story arc comes down to this final issue. Wolverine is in the final confrontation to kill those responsible for sending him to hell. There's a brief flashback on a kid who lost his mother at the hands of Wolverine. Her mother works as a nurse in a Shield department and was stab to death by Wolverine who at the time is injured and bedridden. Later it reveals that Wolverine was dazed and under a spell when committing the murder. That was a minor character's story.

Presently after passing the final door, Wolverine found all the members of the red right hand had committed suicide by drinking poisoned wine. A video playback of the leader of the club justified it as not to give Wolverine the chance to exact revenge and killing them. The important plot is, all the previous villains that Wolverine has disposed of on his way to this final encounter were all related. They were the offspring of Wolverine and the red right hand had painstakingly gathered them from all around the world and trained them only to have them slaughtered by their own father unknowingly. A very creative way of revenge one ending that I wouldn't have thought off up till the final two pages. So the red right hand had showed Wolverine how its like to loose a loved one albeit unknowingly. Wolverine loose big time in this storyline.

Wolverine 13

The tale continues with another victim of Wolverine. This time its a girl who is part of the Hand a ninja based criminal organization. Since she was little she was trained to be a ninja assassin and not only that, to watch her father and siblings die one by one at the hands of Wolverine. Seems like Wolverine has a heavy body count of the Hand that died by his claws since long ago. One day she came face to face with her nemesis but was cut down only to be revived by the Hand later.

Her allegience change and joined the red right hand to wage revenge on Wolverine. She was tasked to train the new assassins to try to kill Wolverine. Presently Wolverine faces a final villain Gunhawk. But bullets can't hurt Wolverine. He expired the villain but not before mumbling that the final door Wolverine is about to enter contains a whole lot of pain for Wolverine.




Wolverine doesn't gives a damn and enters the final door to find what is exactly behind that door and what exactly the plan of the red right hand. Theres still a lot of unanswered question here though and will finally be answered in the concluding of this arc next issue.

Wolverine 12

The story starts off with Roger, an ordinary man whose life was somehow destroyed by Wolverine. Here is the story of how Roger's encounter with Wolverine took place. Roger is rushing trying to get his pregnant wife who is in labor to the hospital. But they are being stuck in the middle of a traffic jam. Up ahead it was the Hulk who is causing the jam wrecking havoc on the road. Roger try to maneuver his truck to bypass the road blockage but end up hitting something. Out of the shadow, it is Wolverine that got hit and he is as always without a scratch from the accident and got straight up on his way to stop the Hulk.

The truck unable to start up after the accident, Roger carried his wife and tried to get to hospital but all ends in futile. From then on he blames Wolverine for the death of his wife. Roger then went on a drinking binge and develops a weird hobby of forcing homeless man to dress up as Wolverine to be whacked by his baseball bat. He was approached by a strange boy with red eyes, who I assume must be the devil's assistant who persuade him to make a deal with the devil. So Roger joins the red right hand and brings all the devil worshiping back to the club in order to seek revenge on Wolverine.


Meanwhile presently Wolverine has to face off with two opponents Fire Knives who attacks with fiery knives and Saw Fist. Seems like both of them are intent on this suicide mission trying to put down Wolverine. At the end they don't mind getting boot off by Wolverine as if they expected it. Roger now an older man already on seeing that Wolverine is still alive tries to go after him but gets killed of as the deal was to stick to plan. Looks like making a deal with the devil is not so a good idea after all. Is the devil going to manifest itself in the final issue of Wolverine's revenge is anyone's guess but Wolverine is sure a whole lot pissed. Tons of body counts is expected.

Wolverine 11

The story in this book mellows down as the story line centres around an old woman that is part of the red right hand. But Wolverine does have to deal with another villain by the name of shadow stalker, a harder to kill enemy from the previous Cannonfoot. The old woman narrates her ordeal and flashback to the past when she was still a little girl that has a father that works for the government Oss that deals with a lot of top level hush hush kind off secrets. Until one day Wolverine shows up and assasinate the father and set the house on fire.

The little girl nevertheless moves on with life until she is a grown up woman married to a man who also deals with top level government secrets. Till one day Wolverine and Sabretooth shows up and kill her husband also. The second time her loved ones murdered at the hands of Wolverine. Wolverine spares her life again and thus she ends up joining the red right hand after being approached at the husband's funeral. She was persuaded to join in a most unusual way I must say. She was led to a home where there is an old woman sleeping who is Sabretooth's mother. On hearing this the urge to seek revenge is unbearable and she hacked the old woman to death in her sleep.

Meanwhile in the present, Wolverine makes Shadow Stalker expired as normal and proceeds deeper into finding the members of the red right hand. But the final flash back to the past has this character criticizing the red right hand at a gathering. The character reveals himself with a mohawk hair which can only be Daken the dark Wolverine. Daken having a part in the red right hand is sure to make this more intriguing as Daken has existed long before Wolverine even knew who he was supposed to be.

Wolverine 10

Wolverine continues his revenge as he reached the location of the red right hand, the organization that's responsible for sending him to hell. The blood starts to flow thick and fast as soon as Wolverine breaks into a the headquarters. He faced an enemy with a unique trademark of hurting people, by kicking cannonballs at his opponents. That's very creative and god knows what his legs is made off. Wolverine suffers some knocks and cuts while tangling with this Cannonfoot. The cannonballs got stuck on Wolverine as if it were live bullets but nothing Wolverine couldn't handle.

But more origins of the red right hand is revealed by flashback way back to 80 years ago. The story is told as a first person from a kid as his father, a mine owner faces a revolt by his workers. In trying to crush the revolt his father hired pinkertons who massacred a lot of the miners. The blood spill ends when in step a new negotiator from the side of the miners. The negotiator is Wolverine and he dealt with the pinkertons easily. There is a good shot of Wolverine in a 40's suit arriving at the scene though. The kid's father was forced to settle with the workers union only for a rash misjudgment of the father caused him his life by the hands of Wolverine. From then on the kid swore on revenge as he devoted his life in seeking out and killing Wolverine. When the kid grew up, he located Wolverine and killed him numerous times but to no avail. Later he seeks out other members that has families that have been killed by Wolverine as well. So the basis for the founding of red right hand is to unite the family members of people slain by Wolverine to exact revenge on him.

Back to present, Wolverine made Cannonfoot expired as expected only to be confronted by another female assassin that gives Wolverine a head shot. The story is far from over and Wolverine has a lot more of bad guys in later levels to deal with before reaching the red right hand members.

Wolverine #9

An issue with revenge on Wolverine's mind as he goes after the people that has put him through hell previously. Very straightforward and not much talking involve here. Wolverine is going after Mystique which some how connected with the unknown red right hand. Red right hand send a lord Deathstrike with a Japanese mask to shut up Mystique but she just cannot die. She'd been shot, blown and practically sliced in this issue.

 Who is this lord Deathstrike remains unknown but he certainly has a lot of arsenal up his sleeves including a phasing device that makes him go through the wall and shoes that walks on walls. There's a creative auction of a dead body and a bunch of ninjas appear at the end. Could the Hand want a piece of the action?
Notable events: Wolverine kills Mystique again but only for a few hours. Starting to looks like lovers quarrel.

Wolverine Origins #14

Cyber interrupts the tussle between Wolverine and his long lost son Daken. With Wolverine KOed its now Cyber Vs Daken. This is quite a straighforward issue with lots of fight action, maiming and clawing. Daken is good and fast but Cyber has the advantage of adamantium laced body and nothing can touch him. Even the few acrobatic stunts Daken inflict on Cyber produce nothing. It was a matter of time before Cyber got Daken by the throat only for Wolverine to thwart Cyber's attempt. While Cyber and Wolverine is tussling, Daken makes an escape leaving the scene.
Wolverine then took a heavy beating by Cyber. Wolverine is saved by the bell when Cyber gets a heart attack. Seems Cyber does not know the new host body he possesed have a heart weakness.
Wolverine interrogates Cyber and theres the flashback of the origins of Cyber from the early 1900's where he was a homicidal officer convicted of mass murder.
But he was broke out from going to prison by non other than Sabretooth to be recruited by unknown agency. Weapon X maybe.
As Cyber slowly loosing it from the heart ailment, Wolverine decided to help Cyber to locate a tinkerer to repair that heart of Cyber.

Notable events: The origins of Cyber before he was the way he is.
Best action: Wolverine getting both his hands broken by Cyber.
Twist: Wolverine helps out Cyber? The man he most feared.

Wolverine #53

Wolverine is having those weird dreams again, this time in ancient Rome where gladiators fight it out in the Coliseum. This time the dreams involve white tigers and a gladiator battle it out. There are a few figures that is not shown the face. Still blurry there.

Theres also Wolverine vs Sabretooth part 2 picking where it left off last issue. Only this time , Sabretooth is chained and locked up after being subdued previously. They are still in Wakanda, home of the Black Panther.

Things got weirder as Wolverine is attacked when checking out on Sabretooth later in the night.
Turns out the attacker is none other than Wild Child an ex member from Alpha Flight. Not only that , he also helped Sabretooth escape once again. Think this is the 3rd time Sabretooth escapes in this story arc. Almost confused Wild Child with Sabretooth as both almost looked the same there.

Anyway things turns beginning more interesting as the other members of animal gang ie Wolfsbane , Sasquatch and etc also comes looking for wild child. Wonder where this is going now.
